Founded in 1996 with the help of some computer enthusiasts in a typical home/office environment, BBCS Data Systems, then known as Catbalogan Bits&Bytes slowly grew from a simple desktop publishing into a multi-venture company. With a P20,000 clean loan granted by the RVM Sisters, and with some assistance by his cousins, a town house bodega and a one-page business plan, BBCS turned itself into a revolutionary company whose innovations helped shape the technology industry in Catbalogan and Samar.
BBCS received numerous commendations since then. It introduced its distinctive Information and Communications Services. In 1999, the company ended the year on a high note by opening the gates of information superhighway. It became Samar’s first Internet Service Provider. Today, the company continues to make waves in initiating innovations and technological changes such as internet connectivity through local prepaid dial-up from Calbayog and Catarman to Catbalogan. It ships roughly 20-30 computer units and network equipment/accessories monthly and boasts one of the most recognized company in computer services in the region. BBCS now caters scores of government agencies such as GSIS, LGU’s and National High Schools and offices throughout Samar with its Computer Monthly Preventive Maintenance Program.
Throughout its history, the company has led the way with a number of firsts in the technology industry:
1996 - BBCS became the first and only TESDA Trade Testing Center.
- BBCS pioneered the implementation of Local Area Network in Catbalogan.
1997 - BBCS offers a choice of software for client PC's at no extra charge.
1998 - BBCS introduced in Catbalogan's first Internet Café.
1999 - BBCs became the first local Internet Server Provider in Samar.
2000 - BBCS launched Pre-paid Internet.
2001 - BBCS setup the first Video Conferencing equipment.
- BBCS setup the first digital multimedia presentation in the Congressman's Report 2001.
2002 - BBCS launched interconnectiity to Calbayog dial-up clients with no long distance fees.
BBCS has become a leading provider of personalized technology solutions. With a dream of contributing to the sustainable growth of Samar by improving people’s lives through technology, BBCS is pursuing high-growth technology segments such as digital photography, music and video processing, as well as services including broadband high-speed Internet connections and networking for homes and businesses. By end 2003, it established its branch at the heart of Catbalogan. Early 2004 it introduced yet another innovation in wireless fidelity access (WIFI) by setting up its own internet hotspot through redundant and failsafe lease-line/DSL connectivity to Globe Telecom’s Innove Communications and Bayantel’s Skyinet. In the next few months, BBCS will broaden it’s WIFI area coverage by setting up another branch in the northern part of Catbalogan, within the vicinity of schools and colleges.
